Our Story at EDL

The Ortega Family—Matthew, Kc, and our children—proudly operate Enchanted Desert Labs from our half-acre home in charming Bosque Farms, NM, just 15 minutes from Albuquerque. We share a deep love for life, nature, and life science, and those values guide everything we do here.
 

We are dedicated to continuing the tradition of breeding exceptional AKC Labrador Retrievers. Enchanted Desert Labs stands for health, temperament, and type—producing family-ready Labradors with the structure, brains, and heart you want in a lifelong companion. Al’s vision remains at the core of our program, and we honor that legacy by maintaining rigorous standards for breeding, care, and socialization.
 

Our family’s journey with Enchanted Desert Labs began when we welcomed our first pup, Aspen, from Chip and Habi’s 2018 litter. Since then our program has grown with carefully selected dogs who contribute excellence to our lines. Our sire, Opie, is a striking Fox Red Labrador whose offspring consistently show the soundness and friendly nature we prize. We’ve also added Delta, a lovely Chocolate female, bringing more depth and desirable traits to our program. Zorra, one of our beloved black females, continues to enrich our breeding goals.
 

Every puppy from Enchanted Desert Labs is raised with attentive, hands-on care, early socialization, and health-first practices. We prioritize genetic testing, veterinary oversight, and individualized attention so families receive a confident, well-started companion ready to join their home and hearts.
